Algae + Fungi = Biofuel

MSU-Plant Research Laboratory scientists have developed a biofuels production proof of concept that uses cooperating species of algae and soil fungi. It addresses some issues that hold back biofuels from being more widely adopted: 1) It is sustainable and environmentally friendly, 2) the oils are cheaper to harvest, and 3) it is potentially easy to scale.
