Wastewater Treatment

The release of poorly treated wastewater into natural resources impacts human health and the natural environment. Several wastewater treatment works in the Limpopo Province of South Africa are in high and critical risk situations. In an attempt to address this challenge, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research scientists are developing an algae-based wastewater treatment system to improve the operational efficiency of the pond-based wastewater works in the province’s Motetema District Municipality.
