eff Obbard of Cellana, Jonathan Trent from NASA AMES, Michael Borowitzka from Murdoch University, Syed Isa from Algaetech International, as well as highly regarded phycologists and scientists from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines were among speakers during the Singapore Biofuel 2012 Conference, more accurately known as Alternative Aviation Fuel in Asia Conference
and the ASEAN Algae Biofuels Initiative Conference.
More than 400 participated in the two-day gathering that was partially sponsored by the National University of Singapore. The conference attracted people from all over Asia including China, Japan and other ASEAN countries.
In conjunction with the Singapore Aviation Show, John Price of EADS also presented their outlook of aviation biofuel. With Europe B5 a mandatory biofuel mix for aviation fuel in 2015, the conference was indeed an exciting platform of discussion between the participants.
Several distinguished U.S. Military Science leaders presented as well, including Brig. Gen. Mark Wise, Vice Chief of Naval Research, at the U.S. Office of Naval Research; and Jim Hileman Chief Scientist for Energy and Environment, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Topics discussed by military biofuels specialists included “U.S. Efforts to Develop Sustainable Alternative Fuels for Aviation,” “USAF Biomass-derived Aviation Fuel Certification” and “Environmental Feasibility and Alternate Jet Fuel Viability.”
