Evodos has announced that they will debut their Type 250 centrifuge at Florida-based algae producer Algae 2 Omega. The Type 250 centrifuge, currently in development, is a larger version of the Evodos Type 10 and Type 25 centrifuges, and is designed for a flow of 40 m3/hour and a solid discharge capacity of maximum 500 liter per hour. It uses the same Spiral Plate Technology as all other Evodos centrifuges.

Geronimos Dimitrelos, CEO of Algae 2 Omega said, “As a result of the Evodos Type 25 cutting edge technology, our company will achieve better efficiency and a higher quality from the dewatered algae paste.”

Marco Brocken, CEO of Evodos added, “…their participation in user requirements and user testing will lead to an excellent machine.”

Brocken also announced that Evodos’ most recent product, the Type 10 centrifuge, when processing two different algae strains (micro algae with a size of 2-10 micron) has demonstrated test results that over 99% of the algae are separated at the maximum feed flow settings. The algae are harvested as a paste containing only live algae and less than 2% extracellular water. These results are similar to the performance of Evodos’ Type 25 machine.

Type 10 machines for harvesting algae are currently being scheduled for delivery to: California Polytechnic University, USA; University of Kansas, USA; Synaptic Research, USA; The University of Bath, United Kingdom; University of Adelaide, Australia; MBD Energy, Australia, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China.
